Transitioning Into Spring: Oversized Jumper and Florals

Can’t believe I can finally dust off the florals I’ve been hiding in my wardrobe for what feels like a lifetime. Spring is without a doubt my favourite season but when you live in London it never feels like proper spring, with sun shining beautifully every day and trees blooming all around you. It’s always windy, chilly, late and unpredictable, but enough about the weather because it’s going to make me depressed!

When you know you have a limited number of days to wear spring/summer clothes before you have to throw on a trench coat or open your umbrella you kind of start taking them out earlier than you should just to make sure you get enough wear out of them.

I have to say, I have been dreaming about taking out this gorgeous dress for a stroll since I bought it in November, cause you know, you need to stock up on florals in wintertime, right? It’s only the beginning of April so the weather is mild enough to start wearing dresses but not without layering with a jacket or a cosy jumper, especially if you feel the cold as easy as I do. The pattern might say spring, but the light fabric definitely says summer, so how do you feel cosy and look stylish on a proper British spring day? My secret…layering!

Layering jumpers and dresses is such a great transitional outfit into spring on those chilly mornings when you keep telling yourself that the weather will get milder by lunchtime, so you won’t regret your decision of wearing a summer dress when it’s only 8 degrees outside. My all-time favourite jumpers are oversized ones because they are casual, but they can be chic when styled over a dress.

The one I’m wearing is from Stradivarius and I love the loose, slouchy vibe. It feels really cosy and relaxed, but if you want to give it that ‘elegant’ vibe you can add a waist belt to make it more fitted.

The floral dress is from H&M and I absolutely adore the red floral pattern and the pretty, chic pleats. It has gorgeous oversized three-quarter sleeves which I am annoyed that you can’t see here, but more outfit ideas to follow where I will proudly display them. This dress is really versatile, and you can wear it in so many ways this spring so look out for some outfit inspo in my next article on the blog. It’s out of stock at the moment unfortunately but I have linked below to similar ones which look really gorgeous.
