Summer in the City: The sustainable maxi dress

It’s finally that time of the year: the sun shines brighter, the warm breeze caresses our faces and we’re slowly giving up the greys for summer’s more lively colours.

My summer uniform has always consisted of casual, relaxed, lightweight pieces, mostly floral patterns. I try to avoid synthetics as much as I can and mostly focus on lightweight cotton, silk or linen, which I don’t have many pieces of but I would like to invest more in this summer.

One of the pieces which absolutely stole my heart is this V-neck white maxi dress from H&M, made of silk and linen, the perfect fabric combo for the summer season. The gorgeous light blue floral pattern gives it such a chic feminine vibe.

It’s incredibly light and airy, perfect for those hot summer days in the city or for relaxed strolls on holidays. The fit is really flattering, making it a wonderful choice for casual outings but I think it would also be a perfect choice for a garden wedding or a night out in the town. I went for laid-back, casual-chic and I have paired it with this season’s hottest trends: the half-moon straw bag, an oversized straw hat and a pair of espadrilles. If you are going for a more sophisticated, stylish look you can complement it with a clutch bag and a pair of heeled sandals.

The linen content of the dress is organic which means it’s not only good for you and your skin, but it’s also helping the environment. The dress is actually part of H&M’s ‘Conscious Collection’, an initiative promoting sustainable pieces and organic fabrics, which I am delighted to support.
