The Sophisticated Striped Top

Stripes and Lace Top

Is there anything better than the classic striped top when you want to get that casual but chic look? There is and it has lace on it! A dream come true, right?

I have a handful of striped tops of different colours and styles in my wardrobe which I religiously wear, but I can say without a doubt that this is my favourite so far.

The subtle stripes and the overlaying lace are the perfect balance of chic and elegant that you’ll absolutely love.

The stripes are not your regular full block ones, but slightly dotted and thinner, which gives that sophisticated look, as opposed to the normal stripes which are more casual. The black lace around the neck, sleeves and hem makes a beautiful overlaying detail and brings such a stylish twist to the top.

For me, the voluminous ruffle sleeves are definitely the cherry on the top and they are incredibly flattering.

One of the great things about this top is that it looks glam with both trousers and skirts, so it’s quite versatile. I have styled both of them in this article, let me know which one you prefer most.

I feel like the skirt and top combo has that classy and elegant vibe, especially paired with heels. If it’s a high waisted skirt like mine, you lose the lace layering around the hem but you can still proudly display those beautiful sleeves.

This top will definitely steal the show and be the hero piece of your outfit. My advice would be to go for a plain pair of trousers or skirt and let the top do the work for you.

Skirt and Coat Outfit

I’ve bought mine from Zara a few weeks ago, they only have it in white and navy and it’s on sale for under £10 – so grab it whilst you can!
