Midi skirts have always been one of my favourites because they’re effortlessly chic and easy to style. From day to evening, midi skirts are such a lovely piece to take out for a stroll on a beautiful spring day. Strangely enough, I have discovered an unusual attachment to green lately, which I have dismissed vehemently in the past as not right for my skin tone but hey, I think it kind of suits me, so I’ll roll with it a lot this season. I bought this stunning green lace midi skirt from Reserved a few months ago and I was so excited to be able to finally style it for spring. If you’re looking for inspiration on how to pair your favourite midi skirt this season, here’s a list of my top choices.
Lace Crop Top
I might have mentioned this before, but I am not a big fan of crop tops. I wouldn’t go as far as saying that you will never see me wear a crop top, but I am not comfortable with wearing them outside a holiday resort, where, call me old fashion, but it’s appropriate to show a lot of skin. But I do love styling crop tops with high waisted skirts and trousers, I think they are such a great fit and they reveal just the right amount of skin. This black lace top from One Nation Clothing is without a doubt my all-time favourite crops tops and I have worn it on repeat for evenings out or black-tie events lately. It has such a chic cut and the all lace open-back style couldn’t say more romantic and elegant to me.
A blazer is a must-have piece for spring and can replace the heavy outerwear we’ve been wanting to get rid of in the cold season. From a boyfriend cut to a more fitted style, blazers can complete any outfit, either as a main piece or overlaying a top. One of my favourite ways to wear a blazer is as a hero piece, I find it chic and sexy at the same time. As a rule of thumb, when I overlay a skirt or a dress with a blazer I always go for a fitted 4piece because that’s more my style, but the boyfriend cut or a looser one would go wonderfully with a midi skirt.
SHOP THE LOOK
Choosing the right white shirt to pair with a midi skirt can sometimes be difficult, depending on what look you’re going for. Dress up your midi skirt for the office with a fitted, more classic cut or dress it down by unbuttoning it or tying it into a knot for that cool vibe on a day out with friends. I am quite unconventional when it comes to white shirts and I always try to stay away from the classic ones, even for an office look. Most of the time I choose oversized or asymmetric white shirts, with wide cuffs or a tunic neckline.
If you’re anything like me and you find yourself wearing your leather jacket on repeat in the spring season, then you’ll love pairing it with your fav midi skirt. What I always find interesting about wearing a leather jacket with a more romantic piece is the laid-back, cool edge it gives to the outfit, making it a perfect choice for a brunch out with friends or for any casual evening event.
